Longtime KCS Director, Nancy Flood, was named SwimBC’s 2013 “Volunteer of the Year” at their AGM in Whistler on Saturday night. Nancy has been a long time supporter of Kamloops Classic Swimming having served the KCS Board of Directors for the past 10 years, most of which as Treasurer. While Nancy’s two children have moved on after swimming with the Club, Nancy has continued to provide support to the Club as well as the swimming community at large. The Annual Blue/White Intra-Squad Game goes tonight at ISC, marking the end of the 2013 Blazers Training Camp. The game starts at 7:00pm and admission is just $5 per person. The Kamloops’Classic Swim Club had two swimmers competing in the 2013 Summer Canadian National Swimming Championships in Pointe-Claire, Quebec July 17th –20th.. 14 year old Colin Gilbert place 13th in the 800 Free with a time of 8:36.34, 42nd in the 400 Free with a time of 4:11.60 and 50th in the 100 Free with a time of 56.23. Kamloops – Hikers and bikers in Kenna Cartwright Nature Park over the Canada Day weekend may have noticed they have many more legitimate trail options thanks to the work and recommendations of the Kamloops Natural Areas Advisory Committee, or KNAAC. Derby Dolls Theft

On June 22, the proceeds for the Tournament City Derby Dolls bout on June 15 was stolen from The Ruby Room. The money was kept in a cash box and amounted to over $5000, was being kept at the Ruby Room by Shannon Ramunno, for while she rolled the coins before she intended to deposit the money. Kamloops Marathon ranked as a qualifier for the Boston Marathon

The long-awaited news for serious runners has come, Kamloops will be the site of a summer qualifying event for the Boston Marathon.
