The BIG Little Science Centre (BLSC) was started in February 2000 by Gordon R. Gore, a retired BIG Little Science Centre Photos GIF science teacher who has dedicated his life to teaching science in an interactive environment. The Centre currently operates out of four classrooms leased from School District 73 at Bert Edwards Science and Technology School. The current program format allows visitors a period of time to experiment on their own at any of 120 plus hands-on stations located in two classrooms. A third room is used for demonstrations while the fourth room is used for demonstrations and serves as a basic teaching laboratory with capacity for 32 visitors.
The Kamloops Symphony is a community resource providing live orchestral music performances, music education programs and related music services for the citizens of the Kamloops region. It is one of the major arts organizations that form the core of a thriving arts community in the city of Kamloops.
Our volunteer riders are proud to have served our community and its visitors since 1992. We have extended a warm western welcome to many hundreds of thousands of guests stopping in Kamloops.
Though best known as a recreation and fitness facility, our Y is so much more. Our team of dedicated staff and volunteers is committed to the development and delivery of a wide range of community-specific programs and services designed to meet local needs and promote growth of spirit, mind and body of all people. Shelter services for women and children in crisis, parenting and caregiver classes, special events, resident and day camps, and leadership training programs reach far beyond the walls of our facility to empower and enhance the lives of community members regardless of social, racial or economic backgrounds.

Curator, Craig Willms

This summer marks the sixth annual exhibition of work by graduating students from Thompson Rivers University. Selected by Kamloops Art Gallery Assistant Curator Craig Willms, the works in Curator’s Choice highlight emerging talent from TRU’s Bachelor of Fine Arts 2010 graduating class. Students at TRU graduate with a wide variety of specialties, including ceramics, printmaking, sculpture, painting, photography and installation. This year’s exhibition features installations by Kate Garrett-Petts and Melanie Perreault. Like previous Curator’s Choice exhibitions, this is not so much a ‘best of’ show, but rather one united by thematic and aesthetic threads running through the work of these two emerging artists.
