Lunch & Learn Focuses on National Gallery Exhibition

In conjunction with the exhibition Art and Society in Canada 1913-1950, organized and circulated by the National Gallery of Canada, the Kamloops Art Gallery is hosting a series of lectures focusing on the Group of Seven, the Social Realists and Les Automatistes. Lawren Harris—Group of Seven

 

Lloyd Bennett, Thompson Rivers University Visual Arts Professor, talks about the famed Canadian artist Lawren Harris. Painting the Northern Ontarian and Arctic landscape in the 1920s, Harris and his Group of Seven cohorts pioneered a painting style that associated Canadian identity with their notion of the spiritual values of the national landscape and nature.
