It’s Time For Your Spring Yard Tune-Up
Nutri-Lawn offers three Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Lawn Care Programs to meet your individual performance and budget requirements!

Pruning

• This is best done when the tree is dormant, although certain trees and shrubs love to be summer pruned
• Use the one third rule, if possible, more may STRESS the tree
• Prune out dead and diseased and any cross-branching first
• Know what your pruned trees shape should be
• Pruning trees in the early years will result in better shape and less expense later in its life
• Use tree wells, commonly constructed with edging, fabric and mulch. The competition between grass and trees is fierce.
• Always remember to plant the right tree, the right way, in the right place and imagine it 20 years in the future

Bed Maintenance

• Clean out the previous year’s debris
• A quick rake to spruce it up
• Use mulch and compost for weed suppression and soil upgrade

Lawn

• Power rake every 3-5 years, power raking grooms the lawn and can be used to help with thatch problems
• Aerate as much as possible, a minimum of once a year. Coring is the most important element in a lawn care program
• Put your lawn on a slow spoon feeding program, of balanced nutrition
• Cut high and in a different direction every time. Mulch Mulch Mulch Mulching can add up to 30% of your nitrogen requirements
• Water deep and infrequently, train the plant to create a larger root mass. Better roots = Better product up top
• If using seed, get the best. It will show. Seed is graded so beware, lower prices and shiny bags could mean more weed seeds in the mix. Use shade mixes in shady areas and remember, grass needs a minimum of 4 hours of sun.

By doing these simple things you will be able to sit back and enjoy the results all season long!!!  In closing I can not stress the importance of researching your plantings. Use the best species in the proper spots, correctly feed and water them. A good landscaped yard can increase the value of your property by up to 15%.
