Well known art critic, curator and author Robin Laurence presents an informal talk about the life and work of Emily Carr. She considers whether Emily Carr could have anticipated how high her star would rise after her death, how much her paintings would command at auction, how popular her books would become, and how well attended the exhibitions of her art would be. Laurence looks at some of the reasons why so many works by other artists are predicated on Emily Carr's art and life. Laurence wrote the introduction to Growing Pains, The Autobiography of Emily Carr.
