The Outreach Centre is home to a variety of services here in the heart of Kamloops. We are open five days a week to the public from 9am to 1pm.
Big Brothers Big Sisters offers a variety of programs to meet the needs of children in our community. Our volunteers can enroll in a program that suits their lifestyle so the ensuing friendship will be meaningful and fun! Mentoring is about the power of friendship. The volunteers and young people in our programs experience the magic of everyday moments when they are shared with a friend. Everyone needs someone to laugh with, share a dream with, and just hang out...
The BC Cowboy Heritage Society was incorporated on June 5, 1996 with the objective to promote, encourage, establish, conduct and operate events and activities relating to the preservation of cowboy heritage in BC while fostering and developing community interest.
Though best known as a recreation and fitness facility, our Y is so much more. Our team of dedicated staff and volunteers is committed to the development and delivery of a wide range of community-specific programs and services designed to meet local needs and promote growth of spirit, mind and body of all people. Shelter services for women and children in crisis, parenting and caregiver classes, special events, resident and day camps, and leadership training programs reach far beyond the walls of our facility to empower and enhance the lives of community members regardless of social, racial or economic backgrounds.
Crime Stoppers is a completely anonymous program and we are not attached to the RCMP in any way. We work in association with the public, the media, and the police to solve crime and make Kamloops a safer place to live. Remember, we want your information and not your name!

Bullying And It’s Impact On Kids

This is a major problem kids are facing now days. Kids are committing suicide due to bullying. Our world is facing a major issue, and I think we need to bring more awareness to bullying.

Who is Phoebe Prince?

I am going to share with all of you the story of Phoebe Prince who was a 15 year old girl. She was a teenager that many people bullied, even her own boyfriend. She just moved to America from Ireland, with her family in the fall of 2009. She moved to America with her mother and 4 siblings. Phoebe had been bullied by two different groups. The bullied her because of quarrels with other girls over relationships with 2 boys. Her aunt had told the school prior to her arrival that she was an easy target for bullying, and had been bullied in Ireland.

On January 14, 2010, Phoebe had been taunted and harassed for the last time, at around 4:30 pm, her sister found her hung, dead. The people who bullied her were so mean that they even made rude and mean comments on her facebook memorial page. What kind of world are we living in, when we don’t even have sorrow feelings after the person passes away?

Investigators report no later than a few months, then found 9 people in suspicion. There were seven girls and two boys who were responsible for all this. The 9 teens were in trouble as a result of all this.

It was such a sad case; imagine that 10 people ruined their lives. Phoebe killed herself, and no longer has a life, and the other 9 will be charged by the court for their crimes, simply for something that should have never occurred.

This and many other cases are the reason’s why I wrote my book on Thing Every Kid Should Know Bullying. It is a book that has a story and as well as facts and tips. It teaches one all about what bullying is, how to avoid it, what to do incase your being bullied. I am very passionate about this topic, and really want to bring awareness. Please share this book with all of the kids out there, so that we can make a difference…

Alya Nuri is a 9 year old girl who is very ambitious to make a change in her world. With the help of God the greatest, she wants to inspire children and adults to say no drugs, alcohol, and smoking.

Alya began her writing career at the age of 7 and has written a series of 3 books, Thing Every Kid Should Know Smoking, Drugs, Alcohol and Smoking. The series recently got published and is available on Amazon.com
